How it works
From blank page to a draft your board can review
No account. Nothing you type is saved or sent. It stays in your browser tab.
- 1
Pick a template
Open the library and choose a starting draft: the policy set, a monitoring or baseline report, landowner letters and request forms, the record log, a possible violation report, a stewardship cost worksheet, a conflict of interest disclosure or a board resolution.
- 2
Fill in the blanks
Type your land trust's name, the property, dates and people. The document beside the form updates as you type. Blanks you skip stay as bracketed placeholders, such as [Land trust name].
- 3
Print, save as PDF or copy
Use the print button. Only the document prints, not the form or the site menus. Choose "Save as PDF" in your print dialog to keep a file, or use Copy text to paste the filled-in document into your own editor.
- 4
Edit and review
Change the draft so it fits how your land trust really works. Then have your attorney, and your tax advisor where it applies, review it before use.
What the templates are, and aren't
- They are starting drafts written by the Roofus Ventures team, in our own words.
- The policy set is organized around common accreditation topics. It does not quote Land Trust Standards and Practices. Not affiliated with or endorsed by the Land Trust Alliance or the Land Trust Accreditation Commission. Using these templates doesn't mean your land trust meets accreditation requirements.
- Laws differ by state. Each template is one national version, so check your state's rules.
- They are not legal or tax advice. Have qualified professionals review them before use.
